Both BHA and BTA are associated with skin irritation. BHA is also know to cause cancer and hormone disruption.

Ammonia compounds used as foaming agents in cosmetics. Found in body washes, soaps, shampoos, facial cleansers, bubble baths, makeup, shaving products, and sunscreen. Linked to an increase risk of cancer.

Found in deodorants, shampoos, nail polish, shaving creams, and soap. Linked to causing respiratory irrigation and immune system toxicity.

Look out for Formaldehyde releasers such as: DMDM Hydantoin, Diaxzolidinyl Urea, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methanamine, Quaternium-15 and Sodium hHydroxymethylglycincate. May also appear as Cormalin, Formicaldehyde, Methanol, Methyl aldehyde. 

Hydroquinone is used in many skincare products to lighten areas of darkness, including age spots, dark spots, and freckles. Hydroquinone may cause cancer and can been linked to ochronosis, skin disfiguration and darkening.

A product strengthener used to increases plastic strength and flexibility. Found in personal care products and nail polish. It also tends to be found in products with fragrances. Many Phthalates have been suspected to cause hormone disruption.

A softener typically found in facial creams and moisturizers. Used to speed product dry down time and improve product glide. Studies suggest it is a reproductive toxicant and endocrine disrupter. Harmful to wildlife and fish.
